In the joint white paper with Infineon Technologies, we provide an overview of the IEC 62443 series and description of the process to achieve an IEC 62443 certification. The whitepaper is reflecting the different parts of the standard, which focusses on the three major roles in Process Industry i.e. Product Supplier, Integrator and Asset Owner. We motivate the need for security in industrial systems, how this need is reflected in already existing European regulations and how it is expected to be further addressed in the future EU cyber security certification scheme dedicated to industrial systems. Finally we provide a discussion on the required security resistance for IACS and how it can benefit from already well established security certification schemes.
